Northern California Coast

So...Here's a little story in three parts:
In Lawrence Kansas, just outside of Kansas City my refrigerator wasn't working. For 3 days I had a literal ice box to keep things cool in 96 degree weather.  The RV park recommended A-Z Mobile RV Repair in Paola Kansas (easy for me to remember - no y in Paola).  It was more or less on my way to Sioux City Iowa, so I sidestepped to get there.  The place was huge, with all of their crew up to their necks in RV repair.  I didn't think they could take the time to look at my little problem.  But Ed the owner had graciously taken my call earlier and met me when I arrived.  Although he had offered no promises on fixing it, he stopped what he was working on, dug into the circuit stuff, and within a half an hour had revived it with a complicated reset.  And filled me in on important info on several other RV mechanical things. I was very grateful!  And the refrig has been cooling ever since too!

So, weeks later I'm riding down the California coast Highway 1 on my way to San Francisco.  On a super long downgrade, a guy on a Harley is coasting on the shoulder waving his hands in distress.  Looked to me like he might be out of gas.  About a mile and a half later (it was a seriously long grade) I found a pull off spot and waited to flag him down.  He pulled over, and with the aid of the gas in my overly expensive portable generator we filled him up. It worked, and he was off to the nearest gas station.

About two miles further on my way, I stopped for gas and Red Bull.  As I paid for my stuff, I read the name tag on the pretty young attendant. Paola. Really?! Not a common name, at least not in my world. I immediately thought of Kansas.  I got to thinking about coincidences, and far flung unrelated connections. But I've decided that it's more about Karma, and paying forward.  The Harley rider said before he left that he was sure someday someone will do me a favor.  I think they already did - in Kansas.  And I think that motorcyclist will pay it forward as well.

Good night all,
DDP
